Why Is Aldi Groynd Beef Tough

Anyone else have issues with aldi's ground beef?

The first time I bought the 80/20 one it was absolutely vile, like their was something wrong with it. The second time I got it, it was delicious. Now, just yesterday, the third time I bought it, again, it was vile. Anyone else dealing with this?

The grass fed ground beef in the square vac packs is wonderful. I used to get the regular packaged stuff (85/15) and it was never great - inconsistent taste and bone fragments were common. Now all we get is grass fed. It's more costly, yet still $3 cheaper than the same at Publix. In the 2+ years I've bought it, we've never been disappointed or found any bone bits.

Never buy tubed ground beef. It's always terrible.

I actually rlly like tubed ground beef from Walmart and HEB(Texas grocery store). I guess aldis is different

I only buy grassfed which seems smart, since ppl say the others are nasty.

I buy the leanest ground beef they have, when I do buy ground beef, and we haven't noticed any problems. I can't say I've ever bought the 80-20 though

Thanks for this….I usually get ground beef when on a good sale, usually meaning 5+lbs worth the portioning it out and freezing. I'm out, hasn't been any good deals lately, and was thinking about picking some up at Aldi for some tacos. The natural fancy square ones cost what other stores want for their regular cheap 80/20 or 85/15 in 1lb packages, and the 85/15 tube is cheaper at Aldi. I was kinda torn which I'd get…now I dunno if I want to bother with either lol.

It's not a risk I would take, for both your wallet and tastebuds/stomach. It's seriously disgusting.

I made burgers with their fresh 80/20 last night and it was good. I did stop buying their breasts because they're always woody and weird texture wise.

I have a 5.4 pound pack of their 73/27 that I am going to form into 14 or 15 six oz. hamburgers and freeze. I do this all the time, we grill them over hardwood and they are excellent. Put them on the grill still frozen. Stay close to your grill, they are fatty and it flares. Delicious

I've never had any issues with anything other than the chicken having a lot of stuff I need to cut out. I only buy the ground beef out of the black square containers.

Always. I have issues with most of theirs meats actually

level 1

Yeah their tubes are disgusting. The ones in the package aren't bad.

level 2

I didn't buy the tube, I bought the one in the square container

I don't buy any fresh meat at Aldi's

I get the "never any" meats and have never had a problem. I actually love Aldi meats because so many of them are humane-certified and reasonably priced compared to Publix, etc. We finally got some "never any" bacon and I'm thrilled.

One time their chicken smelled rancid. Never had problems with their beef though.

The 85/15 grass fed squares are great. About $1.50/# less than the HEB 85/15 grass fed squares. I haven't bought tubed ground beef. No problems with any other Aldi meats. Whole chickens, wings, breasts, thighs all have been good.

Recently bought ground beef at Aldi that smelled sulfuric and rancid when I went to cook it the next day, which was well within the sell-by date.

Their ground beef is not good. I buy my meat at Publix.

I bought it in the square black pack. Stayed in my refrigerator 1month. Never turned. I took it out and placed it on top of the fridge (extra/outside) for a week in 60ish degree weather. Still did not turn!!! I just don't believe it is real hamburger meat. I will not buy it again.

You read about the horsemeat from Romania presented as beef? They don't receive legal ramifications only recalls. It's a blame game at our expense and a profitable scam at that

I love Aldi, but I can't do their ground beef. It has hard bits in it. Absolutely disgusting.

Their meats and fish have always been a disaster for me: the texture and flavor just seem off, and it frequently spoils before its expiration date. I buy my main staples at Aldi but always buy my meat at Publix or Harris Teeter to be on the safe side.
